Day 8: KK Vranje @ KK Sabac Warriors

KK Sabac Warriors: 153
KK Vranje: 37

Following a long weekend, a few of the players had reported to be working with high priced, highly effective trainers, putting in quite a bit of extra effort to become as good as they could, including Blake Blake and Gordon Goldhammer. Well, it definitely showed as both players put up an extraordinary show, primarily Gordon Goldhammer who did his previous performance one better. Sabac managed yet another 100+ point win, this one having a 116 point difference as Sabac looked ready to play a team closer to their level of talent.

An absolutely astounding performance by Gordon Goldhammer saw him manage 49 points (13/20 FG, 9/12 of which were from three point land, as well as 14/14 FT), 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals in 38 minutes of play time, easily winning him the Man of the Match award. The franchise big man saw his streak of Man of the Match awards end, but seemed to be more preoccupied with standing in awe of Gordon's impressive shooting night. Blake's line wasn't too shabby itself, however, managing 25 points (12/15 shooting), 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 blocks while limiting the opposing center to 3 points on 0/8 shooting. Philip Davey also had a large impact off the bench with 21 points (7/10 FG, 4/5 of which were 3PT shots, 3/4 FT), 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Daniel simmons did a little bit of everything as well, managing 14 points (6/10 FG), 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals.

For KK Vranje, only one player managed to score in double digits, someone known by the somewhat peculiar name of "H_ M_" who had 10 points on 5/10 FG and four fouls in 48 minutes of play.

Day 5: KK Sabac Warriors @ KK Kruevac

KK Sabac Warriors: 147
KK Kruevac: 42

KK Sabac found yet more reason to rejoice, as they managed yet another 100+ point win, absolutely destroying KK Kruevac in all four quarters. Managing to outscore them by 24 in teh first quarter, 32 in the second, 14 in the 3rd and 35 in the 4th, the lead was never in jeopardy and KK Kruevac never managed to rally together to put up a run against the stifling defense and uncannily efficient offense of Sabac.

Blake Blake managed to get his third straight Man of the Match award, an astonishing feat considering how amazing Gordon Goldhamer played all night. Blake Blake managed to put up a mind boggling triple double, the first time he has accomplished this feat in his career, with an impressive all around statline. Blake managed 25 points (10 of 16 shooting, 4 of 6 free throws), 18 rebounds (7 offensive), 10 assists, 3 blocks and a steal, filling up the box score in every way possible, as well as putting on a tremendous defensive effort, holding the opposing centers to a combined 0/15 shooting night. On the other end of the floor, the Sabac point guard continued to impress, managing a season and career high 37 points (12/16 shooting, managing 7/9 of those from three point land, as well as going 6/6 from the free throw line), 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Robert McCrary broke his recent slumping streak on a well rounded night with 18 points (6/14 FG, 3/8 of which were from 3 point land, and 3/6 free throws), 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Xiang Cao made a tremendous contribution off the bench with 13 points (5/7 FG, 2/2 FT), 1 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in a mere 12 minutes.

For KK Kruevac, one player managed to stand out and play well, which was Wes Borland. He had a good night with 24 points (on 9/19 shooting, 5/6 FT), 1 rebound, 3 assists and a steal in 48 minutes. KK Kruevac's other players, however, were held largely scoreless, a combined 18 points coming from the rest of the players.

KK Sabac will be having a two day break coming up, as the automatically qualified for round 2 of the Serbia Cup and had a free day coming up afterwards. Following the break, the Warriors will look forward to playing KK Vranje who, at this time, have a rather unimpressive record with 1 win and 4 losses. The Sabac manager is quoted as saying "We won't take them lightly, however. Every one of our guys will go out there and play like a champion."

KK Subotica: 31
KK Sabac Warriors: 135

Pumped from yesterday's convincing win, Sabac went out to prove that they belong in the Prima Serbia division once more, managing to win by a baffling 104 points, their second win by over 100 points this season. (The first game of the season the Sabac Warriors won by a mind boggling 133 points.) In the first quarter Subotica made it look like it would be a good game, with a 21 to 15 start, with Sabac leading by 6 at the end of the quarter. Then, the Warriors turned up the intensity, scoring 26 points in the quarter and in the most impressive defensive performance of the season, holding Subotica scoreless through the entire quarter. Then, the next quarter, the offense was what got ratcheted up as Sabac scored 41 points in the 3rd quarter alone, before churning in 47 points in the 4th quarter and managing to hold Subotica to 4 points in the 4th quarter.

A night of alll around great team play was overshadowed by the two star players for Sabac, Blake Blake and Gordon Goldhammer. Blake Blake brought home the Man of the Match award for the second night in a row, and had an excellent night. Going off for 29 points (12/15 shooting, 4/6 FT), 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks over the course of the game. Gordon Goldhammer managed 23 points (9/11 shooting, 3/4 FT), 9 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in his 36 minutes of play time. Daniel Simmons also had an extraordinary game, managing 17 points (6/11 shooting, 4/4 FT), 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks.

On the other end of the floor, nobody on the entire Subotica team managed to score in double digits, the team high being 7 points by Keosden Porhay. It should be noted that no player on the entire Sabac team was held to under 9 points.

Day 3: KK Sabac Warriors @ KK Novi Pazar

KK Novi Pazar: 34
KK Sabac Warriors: 114

Opening the game the Sabac Warriors officially were presented with their Prima Serbia stripes, officially becoming the KK Sabac Warriors in front of the Novi Pazar crowd. Sabac failed to disappoint the fans, putting on show on both ends of the floor, holding Novi Pazar to 34 points in 48 minutes, managing to hold them to 5 points in a quarter twice over the course of the game.

Sabac's win was culminated by a balanced scoring barrage, as everyone seemed to touch the ball and everyone seemed to get good shots. Blake Blake was named Man of the Match for the first time of the season as he managed 22 points (9 of 13 shooting, 4/6 FT), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal, while holding the opposing big man and star of the team to 3/19 shooting and 9 points total. Also providing outstanding performances were Daniel Simmons, who managed 14 points (6/9 FG), 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 1 steal, falling just short of a triple double. Gordon Goldhammer followed up his excellent performance the day before with 19 points (6/10 FG, 4/4 FT), 5 rebounds, 3 steals and a block. Coming off the bench, Philip Davey made a large contribution with 16 points (7/13 FG, 2/4 FT), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, 2 steals in 34 minutes.

On the other end of the floor, nobody on Novi Pazar shot 50% or higher, the highest individual field goal percentage being 28.5% by Aleksandar Stamatov. Star center Tamas Adorjan was hounded on the floor by Blake Blake and completely locked down through all four quarters, while his sidekick Beemepe Peesepe only managed 6 points on 2/11 shooting.

Day 2: KK Leskovac Babies @ Sabac Warriors

Sabac Warriors: 63
KK Leskovac: 129

The Sabac Warriors found themselves coming off of their biggest win margin since their inception, and felt good coming in to play the defending champs of Serbia Prima. The Warriors found out why Prima Serbia was a higher league than the Serbia 1st Division as they played the class of the division, defending champs, winners of the Serbia Cup... and got absolutely dismantled.

The players of Sabac found themselves under the unfortunate circumstance of being outclassed on all fronts. Through shear force of talent, Leskovac intimidated their way through most of the Warriors' line up. The only players from the Warriors who managed to maintain composure in the face of superior talent were Blake Blake, who outplayed highly regarded center Petar Tokanovi, who posted impressive stats in cup games and international games, whereas Blake himself had no previous experience in either forms of competition. Petar also averaged a double double (17.3 PPG, 11.7 RPG) in his career, which is considerably better than those of Blake Blake, star center for the Warriors. Blake systematically beat Petar on both ends of the floor, holding him to 13 points on 5 of 20 shooting from the field, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Blake himself managed 19 points on 9/14 shooting, 6 rebounds (3 offensive) and 2 assists.

On the other end of the floor, Gordon Goldhammer played very well, managing 5/8 shooting from the field (1/1 from 3PT) for 15 points, as well as managing 3 rebounds and 2 assists, though he was completely outplayed on the other end of the floor by the opposing point guard, who managed 22 points (10 of 13 shooting), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals in 48 minutes of play.

The real story of the game was KK Leskovac's star player, shooting guard Ivan Bjelajac, who managed an unreal 31 points (11/16 shooting, 3/3 3PT, 6/6 FT), 9 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 block and 2 steals and never left the floor as he summarily demolished anyone who guarded him, and on the other end of the floor, held Daniel Simmons to 3/12 shooting, and Xiang Cao to 3/7 shooting.

Day 1: Warriors @ KK Sombor

Final Score:
Sombor: 17
Sabac: 150

The Sabac Warriors, recently moving up in division and still under the strain of discussing player extensions with Gordon Goldhammer after finally agreeing on terms with starting small forward James Craig, still went out and left everything on the floor.

A convincing display of why they dominated the Serbia Division 1, and why they deserved to move up to the Serbia Prima division, the Sabac Warriors came out and demolished KK Sombor by a baffling 133 points.

With Robert MccCrary getting the Man of the Match on 33 points (10/12 FG, 4/6 3PT), 13 rebounds and 5 assists in 30 minutes, he got a run for his money in the man of the match decision with Philip Davey (32 points (16/21 FG), 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block in 30 minutes) and Daniel Simmons (24 points (9/12 FG, 1/9 3PT, 3/10 FT), 18 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in 34 minutes) going off for absoltuely spectacular games. Solid all around contributions from every player rounded out an absolutely devestating performance.

On the other end of the spectrum, the defensive presence of Sabac was absolutely stifling. Anderson Fan, the starting point guard for Sombor went 1 for 21 from the field in 46 minutes, while Charles Leung went 0 for 14 from the field. Only four players total scored for Sombor, the only player in double digits being Baggio Lee (10 points (1/5 FG, 2/9 3PT, 2/6 FT), 2 blocks in 29 minutes.)

Sabac's victory celebration will be short lived, however, as the Warriors have to get ready to play KK Leskovac Babies, last season's Serbia Cup winner and Prima Serbia divisional champion. A tough match up to be sure, but the Warriors vowed to not be intimidated by the impressive resume.
